Scientology Volunteer Ministers Bring Their Yellow Tent to Bologna
Bologna's Piazza Lucio Dalla is hosting the travelling yellow tent of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers of Scientology, where the exhibition will remain through 8 September.
Around 100 people attended the opening, including people who had previously worked alongside the volunteers during emergencies.
Among them was Pianoro Mayor Luca Vecchiettini, who remembered the practical help received by his community following the 2024 floods. Restaurateur Fabrizio Lazzarini also spoke emotionally about the assistance received when his restaurant was affected by mud and water.
Andrea Ferrarini, formerly involved with civil protection in Bondeno, recalled Volunteer Ministers helping communities following the 2012 Emilia earthquake.
Created in 1976 by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, the programme combines community assistance with disaster-response activities.
Inside the Bologna tent, visitors can explore photographic exhibits and information about the programme while learning about practical approaches to interpersonal difficulties and daily problems.
Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and UN, described the Bologna initiative as an expression of European values of solidarity, human dignity and community responsibility.
The initiative brings together memories of disaster response with methods intended to help people handle everyday difficulties.
